Dr. Christina Zong-Hao Ma, Assistant Professor of 'BME 5111 Wearable Technology for Digital Health', Department of Biomedical Engineering, has been invited to give a guest lecture on “Smart Textile Technologies and Applications for Smart Textile Technologies and Applications for Human-Computer Interaction and Quality of Life Enhancement”. We discussed the cutting-edge smart textile technologies and flexible wearable systems, and explained the important role of smart textiles and wearable in rehabilitation and therapy in relation to the students' professional background to inspire their creative thinking. In the practical classroom, 122 students were organized in small groups to experience and use “knitted sensor samples”, “gesture recognition gloves”, “muscle electrical stimulation straps for sports training”, “A-type of wearable system”, “A-type of wearable system”, and “A-type of wearable system”. “Gesture Recognition Gloves”, ‘Muscle Electrical Stimulation Strap for Sports Training’, ‘AR Glasses’, ‘IMU Motion Capture Kit’ and other smart textile prototypes and wearable products. Students will be guided to brainstorm and explore the potential of smart textiles and wearable devices in solving rehabilitation therapy problems with practice.
